CP Foods Selects SAP Solutions for Cloud Sustainability

WALLDORF and BANGKOK – SAP SE (NYSE: SAP) today announced that Charoen Pokphand Foods Public Company Limited (CP Foods) has chosen a range of SAP solutions to foster growth, enhance competitiveness, and ensure the sustainability of its products in the long term.

Serving over 4 billion people worldwide, CP Foods is advancing its digital transformation with RISE with SAP, SAP Sustainability Footprint Management, and SAP Sustainability Control Tower solutions. Additionally, the company will implement SAP EHS Management for environmental management, aiming to future-proof its operations and gain strategic insights into the global sustainability impact of its products, processes, and infrastructure. As a major integrated agro-industrial and food business, CP Foods is one of the largest producers of feed, shrimp, poultry, and pork, with operations in 17 countries and exports to more than 50 nations.

Global Net-Zero Ambitions

Aligning with its ambition to become the “Sustainable Kitchen of the World,” CP Foods is the first food processing company to have its near- and long-term forests, lands, and agriculture (FLAG) sustainability targets validated by the Science-Based Targets Initiative (SBTi). The company aims to achieve Net Zero by reducing 42% of Scope 1 and 2 emissions and 30.3% of Scope 3 emissions by 2030, and 90% of Scope 1 and 2 emissions and 72% of Scope 3 emissions by 2050. To meet these targets, CP Foods is leveraging SAP Sustainability solutions to monitor, report, and act on real-time sustainability data, facilitating carbon accounting at both corporate and product levels.

“Net Zero is the only solution to climate change,” said CP Foods CEO Prasit Boondoungpraser. “Understanding and reducing our environmental impact is crucial for producing food that is safe and nutritious for people, and green and clean for the earth. Our operations, from feeding livestock to food transportation, generate emissions that we need to track and report. With RISE with SAP and SAP Sustainability solutions, we will have real-time insights into our actual emissions, enabling us to make quick, informed, and sustainable business decisions.”

SAP aims to provide a technological foundation to support CP Foods in meeting upcoming carbon regulations in various markets, including the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (EU C-BAM) and U.S. SEC climate risk disclosures.

Key to reducing overall emissions, CP Foods will focus on supply chain emissions, primarily falling under Scope 3. The company will collaborate with SAP’s Customer Success organization, utilize YASH Technologies’ sustainability expertise, and build on Amazon Web Services (AWS) to implement SAP Sustainability solutions. This will enable CP Foods to record and report Scope 1 and 2 emissions in Thailand and select Scope 3 emissions for its feed business in Thailand, covering both FLAG and non-FLAG emissions. The subsequent implementation phase will expand to cover global operations.

Cloud Sustainability

Paul Marriott, president of SAP Asia Pacific & Japan, stated, “Sustainability presents a significant opportunity for businesses across Asia. By adopting RISE with SAP and our sustainability solutions, CP Foods is proactively addressing upcoming emissions regulations and future-proofing its business through data-driven sustainable decisions. These insights will enhance operational efficiencies, optimize supply chains, and distinguish its business from competitors.
